Black Belts

J.D. Shipp, 4th dan

Mr. Shipp began training in Tae Kwon Do in 1985.  After his second class he determined that he would own his own school and become a TKD instructor.  That determination paid off in 1988 when he opened his first school, Kenton Tae Kwon Do.  The school was a success and Mr. Shipp soon opened a branch school in a neighboring town.  After selling both schools he accepted a ministry position in Tennessee and continued training under various styles and instructors.  After moving back to Kentucky Mr. Shipp opened Family Tae Kwon Do in 2006.  As the club grew he purchased the current training facility and made the name change to Victory Martial Arts.

Shipp and mother of Mr. Aaron Shipp.  She started her Tae Kwon  Do journey simply to spend some quality time with her family.  Mrs. Shipp was promoted to 1st  dan decided in March, 2009. She says she counters the bumps and the bruises with brightly  painted toe nails so when she connects with a round house “you will know that you’ve been hit by a girl.”  Mrs. Shipp also helps instruct during the children’s class.
